A serious accident was registered this Tuesday morning in Këlcyre.

It is reported that a clandestine car tried to escape from the police, but went off the road at the bend of Grabovë village.

The vehicle fell on the side of the Vjosa river, while 8 victims were registered. Unfortunately, the Shkodran driver and 7 clandestines lost their lives.

The Local Director of the Police, the Director of the Border Department, the Director of the Traffic Police and the Director of Public Order, 2 groups of the National Security Force and the investigative group went to the scene.

"Around 04:00, on the road axis Këlcyrë-Përmet, near the village of Kuqar, it is suspected that as a result of the loss of control over the driving of the vehicle by the driver, the Benz type vehicle left the road and fell on the side of the Vjosë river .

As a result of leaving the road, 8 citizens lost their lives. (7 citizens are suspected to be from third countries and the driver of the vehicle from Shkodra)

At the scene is the investigative group which, under the direction of the Prosecutor, is working to clarify the circumstances and the cause of the accident.

Also at the scene are the Local Director of Police, the Director of the Border Department, the Director of the Traffic Police and the Director of Public Order.

There are also two groups of the National Security Force at the scene.
