The State Prosecution Office in Kosovo has announced that 8 people have been detained for the criminal offense of violating the right to vote.

"During today, the State Prosecutor received some information and after verifying it until the end of the voting process, four cases were opened against eight people, while other information is being processed," the media release states.

On the other hand, the Kosovo Police stated that the voting process passed peacefully and without serious incidents.

"Assessed in terms of security, the electoral process passed peacefully and without serious incidents."

The operational plan envisaged for the smooth conduct of the electoral process, which aimed to provide security, maintain order, peace and public safety in the country before, during and after the election process, was successfully implemented throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.

The implementation of the police plan, inter-institutional cooperation and coordination has had a positive impact on ensuring that the entire electoral process passed peacefully and without any major incidents that would have hindered/harmed the electoral process, therefore, from a security perspective, the electoral process passed peacefully and without serious incidents.

"One of the goals of the police operational plan was to initiate and prosecute any criminal offense against the right to vote and to take all procedural/criminal measures against anyone who violates the laws of the country, which sanction illegal actions against free and democratic elections," the Police announced, among others./ CNA
