Officials of the NATO-led peacekeeping force in Kosovo said on Sunday evening that gunfire was heard and seen near a KFOR patrol in northern Kosovo, where local Serbs have set up roadblocks to impede local police. to patrol the area affected by tensions in recent months.
In a statement of the mission, it is said that there was no damage to people or material damage from the shots that were heard in the region of Zubin Potok. KFOR did not provide other details.
In Belgrade, meanwhile, the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, Milan Mojsilovic, said that he met with the Serbian president and left for Raska, a municipality in the southwest of Serbia, not far from the border with Kosovo.
Although he did not make any comments about the Serbian media writings about the developments in the north of Kosovo, he told the Serbian pro-government television Pink that "the situation in Kosovo is such that it requires the presence of the Serbian army along the administrative line".
Groups of Serbs have been blocking the roads in northern Kosovo since December 10 after the arrest of a former Serbian policeman on suspicion of attacking officials.
The Government of Kosovo has asked KFOR to lift the blockades, while the NATO-led mission said it prefers this to happen peacefully./VOA
