The EU ends the supervision of the Greek budget - the end of the debt crisis DW

The European Commission announced the cessation of budget surveillance of the Greek government. This step marks the end of Greece's debt crisis, which began in 2010, caused disagreements between Athens and European creditors and at one point even threatened Greece's exit from the euro zone.

The commission said Greece had "fulfilled most of its political commitments", so the commission will end "enhanced surveillance" of Greece's budget on August 20.

"Si rezultat i përpjekjeve të Greqisë, aftësia e ekonomisë greke për t'u përballur me krizat është përmirësuar ndjeshëm dhe rreziqet e efekteve të përhapura në ekonominë e eurozonës janë zvogëluar ndjeshëm" dhe "mbajtja e Greqisë nën mbikëqyrje të zgjeruar nuk është më e justifikuar," tha Komisioni.

"With this development, together with the early repayment of loans from the International Monetary Fund and the lifting of capital restrictions, a difficult chapter for our nation comes to an end after 12 years" - said Greek Finance Minister Kristos Staikouras. "Greece is returning to European normality and is no longer an exceptional case in the eurozone," added Staikouras.
