The Minister of Finance and Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, came out a little while ago in a statement to the media, where she explained the wage reform.

Ibrahimaj said that initially the salaries will go as they were, without the allowances, until the decisions are fully clarified and their application is made.

Meanwhile, the April and May supplements will be given with a second decision.

"We have asked the budget institutions in order that the salaries for the month of May go as they were before the reform came into force. The holders of the institutions that are affected by the law decided that the salaries as a whole will go as they were in the month of May. Salary allowances should be applied either for the month of April or for the month of May. Income tax should be the appropriate tax. All institutions will be informed of the decision regarding the list of payments for these two months. We think that this will have a significant impact and we are convinced that this reform has come at the right time.

The minimum wage has increased significantly. We have made a calculation of the supply that is being thrown and how much of the aggregate supply is reflected in the increase. We do not expect an increase in inflation from the increase in wages. The aggregate supply, the difference and the additional money is very small in comparison and with the total money in circulation it will be seen how much this will be followed by the private sector. In all the scenarios we have predicted for the wage increase, we do not expect it to have a significant impact on inflation. We are still feeling the consequences of the crisis", the minister emphasized./ CNA.al
