Journalist Ola Xama, in a post on social networks, has made an analysis about financing in the field of construction.

The journalist states that during the year 2023 in total, the construction field received 847 million euros in financing from banks, or only 22% of the value it produced.

She emphasizes that there is investment of dirty money in this field.

"Bank deposits, on the other hand, have increased by 660 million euros from January 2022 and by 85 million euros from the beginning of the year to December 2023. Conversions into euros amounted to 12 billion euros, from 6 billion which has been the historical average. These come out and say every day that there is no money laundering here, in any field and especially in construction. Maybe they are right, here there is no money laundering but investment of dirty money. The weight of construction and real estate activity in the economy has reached 15% of national production in recent years, according to INSTAT.

In 2023, gross domestic product in nominal value was 25 billion euros, according to the projections of the Ministry of Finance. So it is fitting that construction and the real estate market had a value of 3.7 billion euros.

According to data from the Bank of Albania, the total credit for the economy last year was 3.1 billion euros. And according to the data of the central bank, the new loan for construction was 380 million euros and the new loan for the purchase of apartments was 467 million euros.
