Auction for wind energy,/ Ceiling price 3 times higher than Karavastaja

The government does not expect the price of electricity to fall to the pre-crisis level. The open auction for wind farms sets a ceiling price three times higher than the offers of the two solar energy auctions of Karavasta and Spitalla.

The ceiling price set in the open auction for wind energy parks is 75 euros per megawatt. In the open auctions for the solar parks of Karavasta and Spitalla, this price was 55 euros.

In both of these auctions, the French company Voltalia was declared the winner with the offer to sell 70 percent of the energy to the Albanian state at a price of 25 euros per megawatt for Karavastana and 30 euros per megawatt for Spitalla.

The Energy Regulatory Body says in the 2019 strategy for renewable resources that the ceiling price should have as a reference the price of the last auction, which in this case is that of Spitalla.

The reason for this difference is firstly related to the developments that have taken place in the energy market during this period, where the price of a megawatt has increased 7-fold, and secondly the cost of building wind farms, which is higher than that of solar farms. /Euronews
