The number of children hospitalized in Berat hospital increases / They present

In the Pediatrics Department at the Berat Regional Hospital, many cases of children affected by viruses have been reported.

In recent days, the number of cases presenting to this ward with gastrointestinal disorders and intoxications has increased.

These increased viruses have come as a result of the high temperatures of the last 10 days of August and climate changes and high levels of humidity in the air.

The Head of the Department, Vladimir Kumaraku, stated that every day the hospital admits about 15 children who present with gastrointestinal disorders.

"In recent days, cases of gastrointestinal disorders have been reported and unlike other years, we can say that the number of cases of gastrointestinal infections has increased this year. These viral cases have increased due to climate change, high levels of humidity in the air and high temperatures."

In the Pediatrics Department, 10-15 children are admitted almost every day with gastrointestinal disorders, most of whom we have treated in the Pediatrics Emergency Department, while in the Infectious Diseases Department there have been 2-3 cases with complications every day.

The progress of the sick children has been good and without serious complications. These gastro-intestinal disorders have their permanent clinic, with abdominal pain, stomach pain, vomiting and severe diarrhea. The most affected ages are ages 0-3 years, while cases of intoxication have affected older ages.

"All cases of viruses have been treated with infusions and Ringer's," Kumaraku stated./ CNA
