The Albanian state loses the trial in Strasbourg/ About 17,000 euros in debt to

Tonin Biba won the trial against the Albanian state at the European Court of Human Rights on August 7 of this year.

The European Court has forced the Albanian state to compensate Biba in the amount of 11,700 (eleven thousand seven hundred) euros, in relation to non-pecuniary damage, as well as in the amount of 5,000 (five thousand) euros, in relation to costs and expenses, plus any tax that may be applicable.

The Council of Ministers, in today's meeting, has decided to execute this decision.

Payments will be converted into Lek, based on the exchange rate, in one of the second level banks.

The Ministry of Finance has been tasked with making the payments within 3 months from the day when the court's decision became final.

"In case of non-payment within the 3-month period, defined in point 4, of this decision, simple interest is paid on the above amounts, equal to the marginal lending rate of the European Central Bank, during the period of non-payment, plus 3%.

The financial effects, foreseen for the execution of this decision, are borne by the reserve fund of the state budget, for the year 2024", says VKM./ CNA
