6 days ago there was a fire in the basement of the new Emergency Department at QSUT, while today some media reported that there was smoke again.

The "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center reacted to these reports this evening, which states that there was a fire only 6 days ago.

The statement states that emergency cases continue to be treated in 3 hospitals, that of QSUT, Trauma and Sanatorium.

The Hospital Center emphasizes that the responsible structures are continuing to work intensively for the return to work of the emergency service at the central hospital as soon as possible.

"Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center informs that as a result of a technical defect in one of the technical services rooms 6 days ago, on the -1st floor of the Central Hospital building at QSUT, smoke was detected and immediate measures were taken to prevent its spread in the emergency service facilities, as well as the insurance of hospitalized patients, continuing the service to citizens.

In order not to affect the emergency service for citizens due to this technical defect that occurred, based on the order of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the multipurpose emergency service at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center continues to be offered according to a well-defined schedule in University Trauma Hospital as well as the Regional Hospital Center of Tirana "Shefqet Ndroqi".

While the citizens of Gjirokastra, Vlora, Fier and Berat will receive the cardiology emergency, that of internal diseases and the orthopedic one at the Memorial Hospital, while the cardiology emergencies for Shkodër and Lezhë regions are treated at the Shkodër Regional Hospital.

Cerebral vascular accidents are treated in the Neurovascular Service at QSUT, while other neurological emergencies are treated at QSR Shefqet Ndroqi.

Thanks to the investments made in the entire system this decade and the commitment of the health personnel, all the necessary capacities are available to temporarily provide the emergency service of the central hospital in these health structures based on the emergency plans.

Meanwhile, currently the responsible structures are continuing the work intensively for the return to work of the emergency service in the central hospital in QSUT as soon as possible, guaranteeing the safety of all technical elements to continue serving the citizens with the appropriate standards.
