Miners protest in front of the Ministry of Infrastructure

Today on International Miners' Day, miners are holding a protest in front of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

They are seeking the approval of special status, while lighting candles on the steps of the ministry in memory of the miners who lost their lives in the gallery.

The miners also demand a meeting with Minister Belinda Balluku. Representatives of civil society are also part of the protest.

"An hour ago we saw that a decision of a group of 9 MPs sent the law for the removal of Protected Areas to the parliament and in less than 10 minutes it was voted, but for the miners they don't spend a single minute to serve their people . They have spent years oppressing us, driving us away from the country and impoverishing us", said a civil society representative. /CNA
