News about judge Asim Vokshi/ KED reacts: Serious allegations

The Judicial Appointments Council has reacted to the news published yesterday about Judge Asim Vokshi.

In its response, KED says that these are unfounded accusations and serious claims.

STATEMENT TO THE MEDIA

The Constitution and the law guarantee freedom of the media and the right to information, but at the same time require their exercise with responsibility, without abuse and without violating the rights of others or public order.

Following the publication made by "Top Channel", which has exceeded the limits of the responsible exercise of this freedom, through unfounded accusations and serious, untrue and very dangerous claims, which undermine the image of the mentioned magistrates and the authority of the constitutional bodies, the Judicial Appointments Council considers it necessary to inform the public opinion of some fundamental facts.

Preliminary indications show that this publication is based on false data, obtained from dubious sources, bordering on criminal offenses. The above constitutes a serious deviation from legal and ethical standards of public information, while the true purpose of the news remains unclear.

1. The Judicial Appointments Council and its Chairman have not concealed any information

Every action and decision-making of the Council has been carried out in full compliance with the law and has been formalized with approved decisions, which are regularly published on the official website of the KED, in compliance with the principle of transparency and public accountability. This has not been reflected in the aforementioned media reporting.

2. Management of classified information

The law clearly states that data affecting national security are administered in a special manner and cannot be made public. The Council, while strictly respecting legal obligations to maintain confidentiality, has verified that the transmitted data was unfounded and had no legal or factual impact on the candidate's assessment.

3. Damage to the institutional reputation and image of the magistrate

Yesterday's publication constitutes an irresponsible act, which seriously undermines the integrity of magistrates, the authority of the Judicial Appointments Council, as well as other constitutional institutions. The dissemination of classified data or their distorted interpretation constitutes a violation of the law and damages public trust in constitutional institutions.

4. The need to verify the source of information

The Judicial Appointments Council requests the competent authorities to immediately verify the manner in which false information that may contain classified data was obtained and disseminated, as well as to assess the legal responsibilities arising from this action for the purpose of criminal or administrative prosecution, in accordance with the principles of public responsibility and ethics.

5. Commitment to the law and transparency

The Judicial Appointments Council assures the public that it remains committed to ensuring that every process is conducted with impartiality, professionalism and full respect for the law, unaffected by any form of pressure or illegal interference, guaranteeing that the evaluation of candidacies is carried out on documented, verifiable grounds and in accordance with constitutional principles.
