Third day of protest/ Trucks in Qafë Thanë continue to be blocked

At the Qafë Thana border crossing, the largest in the southeast of the country connecting Albania with North Macedonia, trucks continue to remain blocked due to the protest on its third day.

The blockade is planned to last for about 7 days, and if the demands are not met, the Truckers' Association has warned that the protest may be extended.

The situation at the Qafë Thana customs continues to be normal and without problems. On the Macedonian side, trucks continue to be lined up.

The North Macedonian Transporters Association has launched a blockade at about 10 border crossings, with the participation of about 370 truck drivers. They are protesting against the implementation of the new electronic entry-exit system in the Schengen area, demanding an increase in the allowed period of stay.

Macedonian authorities have expressed support for the concerns of transporters and are seeking solutions, while the protest is expected to have a significant economic impact on the region.
