The Director of the Institute for Albanian Municipalities, Agron Haxhimali, stated today that as long as institutions tolerate, pay and are corrupted, the situation with the occupation of public spaces will continue.

In a television appearance, Haxhimali described Rama's public stance on this issue as interference in the local administration by the prime minister.

Haxhimali said that while the attention is currently on Theth, the situation in Tirana is suffocating.

"The Prime Minister is interfering in the local administration, but local officials have many problems. Public property is protected by everyone. The land in Theth does not even exist in the Cadastre, but it is the responsibility of the state, which has not made the Cadastre. As long as the institutions are asleep, tolerate, pay them, corrupt them, for electoral interests, this situation will be. We have tears in Tirana, in Saranda, in the north and in the south. Why will we continue like this? The administration does not function. It does not function, because there are areas, that you have to say that there is no construction here. We stop at Theth, and we are drowning in the middle of Tirana. Local government is an extension of the SP. Scandal, it should not be of either the SP or the DP, the Constitution has defined them as direct authority. I would appreciate the Prime Minister if he would remove the mayors, because they have the local administration", - said Haxhimali./CNA
