Spain makes the decision for the coach before the European Championship

Luis De La Fuente will coach Spain at least until the 2026 World Cup.

The Spanish Football Federation announced the renewal of the contract with the first coach, which ended in the middle of this summer's European Championship.

The automatic renewal clause has been activated and the parties have extended their cooperation until the 2026 World Cup.

The new agreement also includes an increase in the salary of the 62-year-old technician. There will also be rewards for European goals, starting from the group stage, where Spain is part of group B, with Albania, Italy and Croatia.

The bonuses for the Iberian national team will be given, starting from the 1/16 stage, with the first objective being the passage of the group.

De La Fuente took charge of Spain in December 2022, having previously coached the national youth team. In the bench of the Iberians, De La Fuente counts 13 matches, where he has achieved nine wins, two draws and two losses. The biggest achievement for them so far is the final of the League of Nations, where they were defeated by the Netherlands.
