The mother of a 14-year-old autistic boy whose phone was smashed by Cristiano Ronaldo has branded the superstar 'arrogant' and plans to take him to court.

After Manchester United's defeat to Everton at Goodison Park last season, Ronaldo punched Jacob Harding's hand as he entered the tunnel, breaking the boy's phone.

The 37-year-old apologized afterwards but was interviewed by police about the alleged assault and criminal damage and given a caution.

Jacob's mother, Sarah Kelly, says she turned down the chance to meet Ronaldo after the incident, but then received a phone call from the Portuguese forward.

"He asked me if I would like to meet his family and he told me that he is not a bad father." 

Then he told me: "I had a terrible life, I lost my father." I told him: "Everyone has a difficult story, I lost my father young, I had cancer."


"He never referred to Jacob by his name, always 'son.' "I know the boy has problems," he said. I told him: "No problem, he has a disability, you have problems."

Sarah described Ronaldo as "the most arrogant person I've ever spoken to". The Merseyside mum plans to take legal action against the star and United.
