Germany is shaken on the eve of the World Cup, loses its main striker after an injury

The main striker of the German national team, Timo Werner, misses the World Cup after the injury last night against Shakhtar. He injured his left ankle three weeks before the tournament and will be out for the rest of the year.

In the 13th minute, Shakhtar captain Stepanenko hit him from behind as Werner tried to continue playing, but had to be substituted immediately.

The diagnosis was revealed during an MRI scan on Thursday in Leipzig.

For his World Cup dream, the German returned to Leipzig in the summer after two years at English club Chelsea and signed until 2026.

After initial difficulties at the club, in the end it worked perfectly. Verner has scored in the last three league games and in the Champions League against Sültik and Madrid.

After the match against Leverkusen, he said: "I had to prove that I'm still the Timo you know from before. Now it's a lot of fun."

But his joy lasted very little and now he has to say goodbye to the World.
