Dani Alves celebrates 40 years in prison, sad birthday, insists on innocence

Daniel Alves turned 40 this Saturday in Can Brians 2 prison, in Spain, where he has been in custody for 106 days.

The Brazilian player was arrested in Catalonia in January, accused of raping a 23-year-old woman late last year.

His ex-wife Dinora Santana flew to Barcelona this week with the children she has with the former Barcelona man and claimed Alves is "100 per cent innocent".

At the end of April, the defense lawyers of the player with the most titles in the world (43) submitted a request for his temporary release, which was rejected by the Spanish Public Ministry, considering that Dani Alves could flee the country to avoid the judgment.

There is still no date for the trial, but the player declares that he is not guilty and guarantees that the sexual relationship with the young woman was consensual.
