The race for Municipal Councils/ Veliaj reveals the focus of the SP

Yesterday evening, the SP confirmed the names of the candidates for the 61 municipalities in the May 14 local elections, while it has not yet published the names of the municipal councils.

The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, spoke about the candidates today, who said that the SP has done the calculations to win these elections together with those of 2025.

“Kemi konfirmuar kandidatët për Qarkun e Tiranës - është qarku më i madh, me 700 mijë votues. Tirana ka vajtur me 62 kandidatë. Me përqendrimin e popullsisë Tirana do të ketë gjithmonë e më shumë zë, edhe me ndryshimin e mandateve në 2025, kështu që kemi marrë disa vendime jo vetëm për të fituar 14 majin, por për të menduar edhe për fitoren e radhës”, u shpreh Veliaj.

Për sa i përket Këshillave Bashkiakë, ai deklaroi se do të respektohet balanca gjinore, ndërsa theksoi se socialistët janë fokusuar që të kandidojnë kryesisht me juristë dhe financierë.

"Municipal councils will respect the gender balance. We have made a grafting of some currents, which represent the society of Tirana, and some provinces. Of course, Tirana is now the mosaic that represents all of Albania. We have some new streams from the academic world and we mainly have a focus on lawyers and financiers, given that the City Council will have to make important decisions for the continuity of work in Tirana. We have several major projects that we want to complete: the new "Selman Stermasi" stadium, the new "Asllan Rusi" sports palace, two hangars that have exceeded their age and we need to make them new. It means that we will do some legal procedures and financial schemes to make these investments", said Veliaj./ CNA.al
