Next week, the deputies are expected to return to work, even though the new parliamentary session has not started. The reason is the meeting of the Council of Legislation, which will hold a session on August 27, after the decision of the Speaker of the Assembly to review the decision of the Constitutional Court for the socialist deputy Olta Xhaçka.

The opposition requested holding an extraordinary session of the assembly on this issue, but the Speaker of the Assembly Elisa Spiropali clarified that she would not call a plenary session without first having a report from the Legislation Council on the Xhaçka case.

With or without an extraordinary session, the mandate of Olta Xhaçka is expected to open the debate in the new parliamentary session that starts on September 2.

The issue of the mandate of the socialist deputy has been wandering between the parliament and the Constitutional Court for almost two years.
