Albanian judge Emanuela Rusta has revealed that she is tired of being considered a "sexy judge" after judging in the Women's Champions League.

The 30-year-old became the first woman to direct a match of the Albanian Super League, while she has taken the step on the European stage in recent months.

She was previously active on social media, posting glamorous bikini photos and working out at the gym, but has now closed her Instagram account due to sexist messages on the platform.

Rusta, who will referee tonight's women's Champions League match between Sporting Lisbon and Real Madrid, believes the media coverage of her appearance has made it difficult for her to reach the same level as her male counterparts.

"Arbitration is not a matter of gender, but competence. The (Albanian) referees' association has always been focused on the promotion of women, so my case is neither a coincidence nor the end of the process. I hope that the day is not far when we will be four women refereeing a match in the highest men's category. Although it seems to be a predominantly male environment, I feel respected and appreciated for the work I do in the field", emphasizes Rusta.
