SANTA FE, New Mexico – A judge in New Mexico dismissed the case against actor Alec Baldwin on Friday. The decision was made while the court process was ongoing. The judge also ruled that this type of lawsuit cannot be brought against Mr. Baldwin again.

Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer dismissed the court case based on violations by police and prosecutors who withheld evidence from the defense in the shooting death of producer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie "Rust."

Mr. Baldwin wept in the courtroom and hugged his lawyers after the verdict was announced.

At the request of prosecutors, a grand jury in January re-indicted actor Alec Baldwin for manslaughter in the fatal 2021 incident, bringing the case back against the popular actor.
