Taxes: Another 27 days to implement cashless payments with POS in some sectors

There are 27 days left until the deadline for implementing the legal obligation to make cashless payments through POS/POI devices at points of sale, for a number of entities determined by the tax administration.

According to the announcement of the General Directorate of Taxes, the obligation mainly includes accommodation structures (hotels and tourist units), transport services, as well as public institutions and companies with state capital.

This decision aims to increase the formalization of the economy and reduce the use of cash in commercial transactions, making financial flows more traceable.

Tax authorities have emphasized that businesses should not leave the fulfillment of the obligation to the last day, as the deadline is May 30, 2026. After this date, entities that are not equipped with the required systems will face administrative measures according to the legislation in force.
