The number of business bankruptcies increases/ Reaches the highest levels since

The number of businesses that went bankrupt in the last quarter of 2022 has increased significantly in EU countries.

According to Eurostat, bankruptcies reached their highest levels since 2015, when data began to be collected.

But businesses have not just closed their doors in the last three months, as statistics show that the whole of 2022 saw a high number of bankruptcies.

Regarding the registration of new businesses, in the last quarter of 2022 they decreased by 0.2%, compared to the third quarter.

The data show that registration levels are higher in the period before the Covid-19 pandemic, i.e. in the years 2015-2019.

These data are based on the declarations that EU member states have made to Eurostat, which until the fourth quarter of 2020 were on a voluntary basis, while in 2021 they became mandatory./ CNA.al
