"Only one stop at customs points"/ Agreement signed between Albania

Albania and North Macedonia have reached an agreement that allows citizens to have only one stop at customs points.

The agreement on the establishment of joint border points and the implementation of joint controls between the two countries, known as "One Stop", was signed today in Peshkopi by the Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, and his Macedonian counterpart, Pance Toshkovski.

Lamallari stated that this agreement means more convenience for citizens, more opportunities for business, and more development opportunities for the economies of both countries.

"I am here today with my Macedonian counterpart, Pance Toshkovski, to sign an agreement that, in fact, makes the borders between our two countries negligible. But it is measured by how few obstacles we create on our borders for the citizens of the two countries. Borders today should not be seen as dividing walls between two countries, they should be bridges that connect and create the right synergy for economic development. We are not weakening our borders, on the contrary, we are making them stronger and safer. Safer for our countries and easier for citizens. This agreement, which is built on the "One Stop" principle, means fewer procedures, less waiting, more efficiency and more security. This means more convenience for citizens and more time for them, more opportunities for business and more development opportunities for our two economies ," Lamallari said.

It is reported that the implementation of the agreement will be carried out gradually and in a controlled manner, so that each joint border point is fully prepared from an operational and legal perspective before being put into operation.

It is reported that the implementation of this agreement will begin within this month, initially at the Qafë Thanë customs and next month at the Bllatë customs. /CNA
