The State Police has issued an official response regarding the arrest of the highly wanted Moisi Habilaj, considered a person of high social risk.

Habilaj, sentenced by Italian authorities to over 12 years in prison for participating in an armed criminal organization for the purpose of drug trafficking, was arrested at a bar in Borsh.

The 48-year-old is expected to be extradited to Italy. Meanwhile, during the operation to capture him, 46-year-old EA was arrested, and Italian citizen SF, 70, was prosecuted at large for the criminal offense of "Supporting the perpetrator of the crime."

Vlora/The police operation codenamed "Methods" is being finalized to capture a highly wanted and socially dangerous person.

The operation was carried out by the Vlora Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Directorate of the Special Operational Force at the State Police.

A citizen with high social risk, sentenced by Italian authorities to over 12 years in prison for participating in an armed criminal organization for the purpose of drug trafficking, is captured and provisionally arrested, with the aim of extradition to Italy.

Following the intensive investigative and operational work to locate and arrest wanted persons, based on the information provided and the use of special investigative methods to detect and locate a person highly wanted by the Italian authorities, within the framework of the police operation codenamed "Methods", it became possible to locate in a bar in Borsh, capture and provisionally arrest citizen Moisi Habilaj, 48 years old, resident of Babicë e Vogël, Vlorë.

This citizen has been sentenced by the Court of Catania, Italy, to 12 years, 2 months and 13 days in prison for the criminal offense of "Participation in an armed criminal organization with the aim of trafficking narcotics."

Also, the security measure "Arrest in prison" was executed against him, determined by decision no. 192, dated 26.12.2018, of the Serious Crimes Court, for the criminal offenses "Production and sale of narcotics", "Trafficking in narcotics", committed in collaboration in the form of a structured criminal group, as well as "Structured criminal group".

During the operation, citizen EA, 46 years old, resident of Saranda, was arrested in flagrante delicto, and Italian citizen SF, 70 years old, was prosecuted at large for the criminal offense of "Supporting the perpetrator of the crime".

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action. /CNA
