"The Municipal Council can only verify Veliaj's absence"/

Former Socialist Party MP Petri Koçi, invited to the "Now" show with Erla Mëhilli, said that resolving the situation in the Tirana Municipality is a political emergency.

Koçi said that the Municipal Council has no jurisdiction over Veliaj, it can simply verify the mayor's absence.

"I think that the Municipal Council does not have the competence to try the mayor, it is only an institution charged by law to verify the absence or not of the mayor. Erion Veliaj has not yet been declared guilty in any court instance, therefore the Municipal Council has nothing to hear, it cannot try him the way Veliaj worked", said Koçi.

 

For Petro Koçi, the need for a legitimate direction of the Municipality of Tirana is a political emergency.

 

"What can be discussed is why the Socialist Party is now seeking a solution on the management of the municipality's affairs, this is an urgent political need," said the former MP./ CNA
