Kujtim Cakrani, former lawyer of former President Ilir Meta, has reacted again regarding the latter's decision to remove him as a defense attorney in the trial.

Speaking about this issue to A2 CNN, Cakrani said that Meta considers him a patronizer since he is also Artur Shehu's lawyer in Zvërnec.

Cakrani stated that in addition to being his client in defense, he also has a close relationship with Shehu due to his family background.

"I have been accused of being a patronizer. This is Mr. Meta's perception. I believe you know that I am an opposition member and there is no chance, it is not happening and no one believes what Mr. Meta said, that I am a patronizer. Realistically, no one believes it.

I mean, this backfires on those who know me and my family. So, as far as Zvërnec is concerned, I am the Shehu family's lawyer and normally I am a working lawyer.

Mr. Meta may have wanted me full-time, but full-time I cannot be anyone's lawyer because I am not a slave. I am a lawyer and I do a job that I have to do and so when a full-time lawyer is paid, when a full-time lawyer is hired, there are some other conditions.

I believe that there is nothing left from Mr. Meta's defense. Although he is also worried about Zvërnec and this has nothing to do with Zvërnec. I have defended the Shehu family and will defend them not only as a client that I have, but I also have other connections. I am a nephew in Kanina from my mother and I have family ties with them. So, it has nothing to do with the protests or stories of this nature.

There is no one in this republic who would make my surname a patronage. I expected anything, but patronage was extraordinary. You can say that to any other lawyer, but not to me.
