"Forbidden kiss"/ FIFA takes the decision for the former president of

Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), who faces sexual assault allegations in Spain, has been banned from all football-related activities for three years, FIFA said on Monday, Reuters reports.

World football's governing body initially suspended Rubiales for three months after the alleged non-consensual kiss he gave Spanish player Jenni Hermoso after the Women's World Cup final on August 20.

Rubiales said he would exercise his right to appeal, accusing FIFA of failing to give him the chance to defend himself.

"I will go to the last measure to see that justice is done and the truth will shine," he said in a statement through social networks.

The incident erupted into a firestorm of sexism that grabbed world headlines, overshadowing Spain's triumph. Rubiales is under investigation by Spain's Supreme Court for alleged sexual assault and coercion following a criminal complaint by Hermoso.

"The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has banned Luis Rubiales from all football-related activities at national and international level for three years, after finding that he acted in violation of Article 13 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code." said a FIFA statement.
