"We have completely destroyed them"/ Trump: I will not use nuclear weapons against Iran

US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he would not use nuclear weapons in war against Iran.

"Why would I use a nuclear weapon? We have completely destroyed them, in a very conventional way, even without it," Trump told reporters at the White House when asked if he would use such a weapon.

"No, I would not use it. A nuclear weapon should never be allowed to be used by anyone," he added.

Asked how long he was willing to wait for a long-term peace deal with Iran, Trump said: "Don't rush me."

He said Iran may have slightly replenished its arsenal during the two-week ceasefire, but added that the US military could eliminate this in about a day.

"Their navy is gone. Their air force is gone, their anti-aircraft systems are gone... maybe they got a little carried away during the two-week break, but we'll take that out one day, if they did," Trump added.

"I want to make the best deal. I can make a deal now... but I don't want to do this. I want to have it forever," Trump said./ CNA
