Gun attack in Athens / 89-year-old man opens fire in two institutions, 5 people

A serious incident occurred in Athens on Tuesday. According to Greek media, an armed man opened fire at the Social Security Center, injuring one person.

A few hours later, he moved with the weapon to the Court of Appeal, which was located 5 kilometers from the first institution. Here too, he opened fire again, injuring 4 people, all women, and then fled the scene, leaving the murder weapon at the scene. 

Greek authorities say the perpetrator has been identified. He is 89 years old and is suspected of suffering from serious mental health problems.

The injured were immediately taken to the hospital for medical attention, and it is learned that their lives are out of danger.

The 89-year-old has been declared wanted by the police, who are continuing to work on his arrest in order to avoid any further tragedy in the country. /CNA
