Anglia luajti dy ditë më parë ndeshjen e parë në Botëror dhe mposhti ekipin iranian me rezultat 6-2.

Megjithëse Irani nuk është standardi i vërtetë, Anglia dukej vërtet e fuqishme dhe lojtarët e Gareth Southgate treguan dëshirë të madhe për të shkuar deri në fund.

Lojtarët e Anglisë tërhoqën vëmendjen me lojën dhe efikasitetin e tyre të mrekullueshëm, por të njëjtën gjë bënë edhe tifozët e këtij vendi me stilin e tyre kontrovers të veshjes.

Konkretisht, tifozët e Anglisë mbërritën në Doha të veshur si ushtarë të Kryqëzatave, gjë që shkaktoi, për ta thënë më butë, habinë e mikpritësve, por edhe të tifozëve të tjerë.
