After Belgium's defeat to Morocco, riots break out in Brussels

After Morocco beat Belgium 2-0 at the World Cup in Qatar, violent incidents erupted in Brussels.

Brussels mayor Philippe Close condemned the violence and warned people not to come to the city centre.

"I strongly condemn the incidents that happened this afternoon", he declared. "The police have already acted harshly, so I advise the supporters not to come to the center.

Police are said to have been deployed to the Christmas market in the Belgian capital amid fears of further violence.

Tensions had already risen before kick-off on Sunday as fireworks were set off near the railway station.
