Don't waste a single second of football! Delays of play no longer count, the reason why England played 27 extra minutes

The great wonder of this World Championship is the extra minutes. Many fans were surprised to see the fourth official's scoreboard mark 14 extra minutes in the first half in England-Iran.

An extremely long time that has never been clocked in a football match before. And as if that wasn't enough, at the end of the regular time another 10 minutes were added, although the game continued for three minutes beyond the extra time.

A total of 27 extra minutes, which made many people wonder: "Why"? The reason is quite simple.

FIFA does not want to waste a single second of football. Previous tactics of delaying the game are no longer valid, as the referee accurately measures all wasted time to add it to the end of the halves. This new rule has started to be applied in this World Cup, where it was also seen in today's other match between Senegal and the Netherlands.
