Vengu: 97% of the defense budget by 2025, completely exhausted

Defense Minister Pirro Vengu declared today that 97% of the defense budget by 2025 has been completely exhausted.  

During his speech in the Assembly, Vengu stated that part of this budget also included compensation for municipalities affected by fires during the summer.

"For the first time in the year-end budget normative act, we have an increase in the defense budget. We have 97% of the 2025 defense budget completely exhausted. Every time you accuse us of mismanagement and theft, you should remember this fact: Reducing debt and reducing the deficit. These are the two criteria of good governance. Another element has to do with compensation for fire damage in 2025. Thanks to this normative act, we were able to exhaust the compensation for municipalities affected by fires. This is the picture of our government, closer to citizens in need and aligned with our commitments regarding the increase in defense budgets, in function of increasing national security and our technological sovereignty", said Vengu. /CNA
