"Isn't breaking the embargo a crime? / Ahmetaj accuses the opposition
Deputy Prime Minister, Arben Ahemtaj

The Deputy Prime Minister, Arben Ahemtaj, has brought to attention how Albania broke the oil embargo against Serbia during the time when Sali Berisha was in charge of the country.

During his speech in the Assembly, Ahmetaj said that breaking the embargo on aid to the war is a crime, adding that if the resolution condemning the Serbian genocide in Srebrenica lacks something, then additions can be made.

"We are discussing an important issue, but I hear that the opposition MPs are looking for a reason to speak and find a pretext. Mr. Balla did not say any insulting words to anyone. But he referred to an event, a fact that is in the documents of the United Nations. At that time, Albania was considered the country that broke the embargo. 1.7 million tons of oil were exported from Albania. In 1994 alone, there were 4.2 mln excise duty. Realize what you have done to Milosevic's war machine. Breaking the embargo and helping the war is not a crime? If there is something missing from the resolution, let's add it, but you said to rise above the parties", said Ahmetaj./ CNA.al
