Marathon session/ Amendments to the Criminal Code approved with 85 votes in

The Albanian Parliament held a marathon session lasting 18 hours. The package of amendments to the Criminal Code was approved with 85 votes in favor.  

Changes that include toughening measures for double parking and decriminalizing defamation of journalists.

Minister of Justice, Besfort Lamallari, reacted to the approval of the package, stating that the approved changes mark another effort to strengthen the rule of law.

 

" After 18 hours of plenary session, the Albanian Parliament approves the package of amendments to the Criminal Code!"

The amendments approved by 85 votes mark another advance in our joint effort to strengthen the rule of law, addressing concerns related to public safety, territorial control, money laundering, human trafficking, terrorism, etc.

In addition, we also fulfill the obligations arising from the EU integration process, through the approximation of 7 key acts of the Acquis communautaire ," Lamallari writes.
