Three people hid in a truck to illegally cross into Italy/ 47-year-old arrested

A 47-year-old man has been arrested at the Port of Durres after hiding 3 people in the truck he was driving, who were attempting to illegally cross into Italy.

Citizen K. Gj. was arrested, while 2 of the people hiding in the truck, wanted by the Italian authorities, were also arrested. One of them is accused of being a member of a criminal organization that trafficked narcotics.

Meanwhile, the other person hiding in the truck, previously convicted in Italy, is under investigation. Police have seized the truck, cell phones and documents of these individuals.

The Border Police is finalizing the operation codenamed "Marine" to crack down on the criminal activity of providing assistance for illegal border crossing.

Hiding in the truck he was driving, 3 citizens who intended to cross illegally into Italy, the 47-year-old is arrested.

2 of the citizens hiding in the truck, wanted by the Italian authorities, one of them accused of being a member of a criminal organization that trafficked narcotics.

These 2 citizens were placed in handcuffs, while the other citizen hiding in the truck, previously convicted in Italy, was placed under investigation.

The truck, cell phones, and documents of these citizens are seized.

As a result of detailed controls at the entry/exit of the Republic of Albania, on citizens and the vehicles they travel in, and the rapid administration of information obtained in operational ways, the Border Police services of the port of Durrës finalized the police operation codenamed "Marine". As part of the operation, the citizen was arrested:

K. Gj., 47 years old, resident of Tirana, for the criminal offenses "Aid for illegal border crossing" and "Supporting the perpetrator of the crime", after 3 citizens were found hiding in the truck he was driving, intending to cross the border illegally.

From the verifications carried out within the framework of this operation and from the exchange of information between the homologous structures of Interpol, in Tirana and Rome, it resulted that:

-the RM citizen, 37 years old, resident of Lezha, hiding in a truck, was internationally wanted, after the Public Prosecutor's Office in Pistoia, Italy, issued an arrest warrant for him, for the criminal offenses "Removal of a prisoner from the place of serving his sentence", "Production and sale of narcotics", "Criminal group with the aim of trafficking narcotics". The 37-year-old was provisionally arrested, with the aim of extradition to Italy.

-Citizen KD alias KF alias KP, hiding in the truck, was declared a national wanted person in Italy. This citizen was arrested and an international arrest warrant is expected to be issued for him by the Italian authorities.

-citizen SD alias KM, hidden in the truck, had previously been sentenced to imprisonment by the Court of Prato, Italy, for criminal activity in the field of narcotics. Proceedings were initiated for this citizen while at large.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Durrës, for further action. / CNA
