The Durres appeal decides the fate of the cryptocurrency boss / Faruk Ozer will be extradited to Turkey

The Court of Appeal of Durrës has decided to extradite the Turkish cryptocurrency boss Faruk Fatih Ozer to Turkey.

On November 17, the Court of Elbasan ordered the extradition of the Turkish citizen Faruk Ozer. The decision was not accepted and was appealed to the Court of Appeal in Durrës. After the hearings were postponed several times, it was recently decided that Faruk Ozer would be extradited and tried there for the $2 billion fraud.

Faruk Ozer, who has been on the run since April 2021, is accused in Turkey of having, in collaboration with other people, set up a fraud scheme through the creation and sale of virtual currencies through the company he himself founded, deceiving about 400 thousand people who invested in his platform. already closed. 

The authorities there blocked the bank accounts of the THodex company where 16 million liras were found. According to the Turkish media, at the time he fled the country, Faruk Ozer had with him a server where 108 million dollars are kept in the form of cryptocurrencies. Several associates of the 28-year-old have been arrested in Turkey on charges of fraud./ CNA.al
