Action on the Greek-Albanian border/ 139 kg of drugs in 125 packages seized

An action by officers of the Department of Narcotics and Narcotics Smuggling of Ioannina ended in the seizure of a quantity of 193 kilograms of narcotics, divided into 125 packages inside a vehicle. 

Specifically, within the framework of the police control, a private car driver, realizing the presence of the police and to avoid the upcoming control, made a U-turn, continuing at high speed.

During his attempt to escape, the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in it going off course and stopping, while the driver then fled on foot, taking advantage of the darkness, as well as the wooded and uneven terrain of the area.

During the inspection of the damaged car, which bore foreign license plates, 125 packages of damaged containers containing narcotics were found and seized, with a total weight of 193 kilograms.

The vehicle was seized, while investigations by the Narcotics Department, in cooperation with the Criminal Investigation Department of the Regional General Directorate of the Greek Police, to discover the identity of the driver, are ongoing. /CNA
