The security of personal data and the challenges of digitization

The Office of the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Personal Data Protection is participating in the 32nd edition of the European Conference on Personal Data Protection (Spring Conference).

In the most important annual activity, which brings together the authorities of the continent, the Office of the Commissioner held the presentation on "Security of personal data in Albania and the challenges of digitalization".

Among his main points, were the regulatory aspects in the use of personal data of citizens during the provision of digital services; taking appropriate measures to carry out a process of their processing in safe, responsible and transparent conditions; the role and supervisory activity of the Commissioner's Office in this regard and the appropriate addressing of the identified problems; as well as the process of aligning the Albanian legislation in the field with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In the panel dedicated to the "Role of Data Protection Authorities in improving the regulatory framework in the digital age", together with the representative of the Albanian authority, there were also those from the counterpart institutions of France, Estonia, Latvia, Bulgaria and the Data Protection Unit Data from the European Commission./ CNA
