The agreement is signed/ Albania is a member of the European Civil Protection

The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, and the European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez LENAR?I?, signed today, in the premises of the Prime Minister's Office, the agreement for membership in the European Civil Protection Mechanism.
The request for membership was submitted by Prime Minister Edi Rama in June of this year. After the signing of the agreement, the Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi appreciated in the joint conference with the European Commissioner Mr. Leanercic, the support that the European Mechanism of Civil Protection has given to Albania.

“Mekanizmi Evropian ka qenë pranë nesh në ditë të vështira të Emergjencave Civile, fatkeqësive natyrore, të cilat kulmuan në nëntor të vitit 2019, me tërmetin dramatik që pësoi Shqipëria. Por, sot ne jemi anëtarë të këtij mekanizmi, që do të thotë se ne sot marrim pjesë jo thjesht si përfitues, por marrim pjesë edhe si kontributorë në tryezat ku përgatiten politikat, masat, aktet e Mbrojtjes Civile për të gjithë hapësirën e Ballkanit, e BE-së”, u shpreh ministri Peleshi.

Ministri Niko Peleshi tha se Shqipëria ka nevojë për ngritjen e kapaciteteve dhe me këtë anëtarësim përfiton shumë.

Nga ana e tij, Komisioneri Evropian për Menaxhimin e Krizave, Janez LENAR?I? u shpreh se: “Sot është një ditë e rëndësishme për Shqipërinë. Ky është një hap kyç përpara në procesin historik drejt anëtarësimit të Shqipërisë në BE, por edhe për mbrojtjen dhe sigurinë”.

With the signing of this agreement, Albania receives the status of a participating country in the European Civil Protection Mechanism. Membership in the European Civil Protection Mechanism enables the strengthening of capacities, the achievement of appropriate standards in technology, modern tools and equipment, training and certification of Albanian teams, which will interact with European teams in cases of natural disasters and those caused by the human hand. /CNA.al
