The Prosecutor's Office of Saranda has completed the investigations for the former director of the Cadastre of Saranda, Aida Demi, and two specialists, sending them to trial for the criminal offense of 'Abuse of duty' for property abuse.

The "house arrest" security measure has also been assigned to the GH citizen, as the person who has unfairly benefited from the legalization procedure and who is suspected of having used forged documents.

Aida Demi was dismissed from office in January 2024.

Notice of the Prosecution:

After several months of investigations, the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Sarandë, has closed the investigations by criminally prosecuting the former director of ASHK Sarandë, AD, under the charge of the criminal offense of "Abuse of duty" provided for by Article 248 of the Code Criminal.

The two former specialists of ASHK Sarandë, ES and EL, are accused of the same criminal act, who with their illegal actions allowed the legalization of a four-story building in favor of a citizen who used forged documents.

Against the citizens above, with decision no. 113, dated 13.5.2024, after the request of the prosecution body, the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction Sarandë has assigned the security measure of "house arrest" while against the former director of ASHK Sarandë, due to her status as "mother with children under three years of age" has been assigned the security measure of "obligation to appear" at the judicial police and "prohibition of exiting the country".

As a result of these illegal actions of the specialists and the former director of ASHK Sarande, the property was alienated (1000 m2 plot of land and 1359 m2 residential four-story building and 1056 m2 social economic activity).

This building was available and rented for years by the real owners, a well-known commercial entity in the entire territory of the country, which was active even during the period when the legalization procedures were carried out.

The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction Sarandë is continuing the investigations for other facts in charge of local officials involved in illegal exercise of state duties./ CNA
