The charge d'affaires of the US embassy in Tirana, David Wisner, gave another message today for justice. 

In the activity on the topic "Strategy of the backlog of cases in the courts", Wisner encouraged the representatives of the new justice to take important steps.

The senior American diplomat said, among other things, that the stock of files in the justice system is a delay in justice for the citizens, and the time has come to make decisions to address this issue.

Wisner said that the US will help you to create successful reforms to harmonize them with the Constitution. 

"When we talk about backlogged court cases it sounds like a technical problem. We have all seen the image of case files piled up in courtrooms, but the backlog of court cases is a delay in justice for ordinary citizens. The Secretary of State said that justice reform is not easy, but if it is successful you will enable the justice system to deliver true justice. Your choices put the justice system on solid foundations and will generate a future in justice that meets the needs of all Albanians.

It is worth noting that some of the steps you have taken to improve the situation have been painful because Vetting caused work disruptions, but they were necessary. Now it's time for tricky steps that are just as important. I encourage you to take the difficult steps that address other challenges. The US will help you create successful reforms to bring them into line with the Constitution. We continue to encourage more collaboration between all stakeholders which is critical. Keep working to find solutions, I am confident that you will work for a better future", said Wisner, among other things. /CNA
