The head of the Albanian Road and Traffic Safety Agency, Ami Kozeli, revealed in a press conference that the main cause of the situation on the Librazhd-Pogradec axis is the continuous heavy rainfall.
Kozeli stated that measures have been taken and alternative ways have been found to unblock the situation.
"The main cause of this situation remains the impact of intense rainfall over a long period of time, river erosion, and massive soil saturation that has led to a massive active landslide and the inability for immediate intervention until the results of the geological report are received."
The following decisions were made:
Construction of a new alternative road along the railway in the Shkumbin riverbed to enable full traffic passage until the landslide is fully stabilized.
"Reconciliation with the Albanian Railway for the realization of the road. Demolition of the existing bridge that no longer exists," said Kozeli./ CNA
