The financing of political parties has been the topic addressed by the Central Election Commission.

Of the 131 political parties that are registered in Albania, 50 percent of them do not declare their funding.

The head of the financial sector in the CEC, Valbona Ballgjini, said that it turns out that for many years they have no financial activity and do not submit financial statements to the institution that organizes the elections.

 "The CEC is informed by the court how many political parties there are in Albania. The registration of the financial statements must be done within 31 years of the following year.

We get a list of political parties and all parties have to submit financial reports. There are 131 registered parties and more than 50% lack the correct addresses, the names of the presidents and it turns out that they have not had financial activity for many years and have not submitted financial statements. The CEC is obliged to select audits. While they say that they cannot find them at the addresses made available and thus we have an unfulfilled obligation. This results in dissatisfaction with payments.

The law obliges the CEC to audit political parties and obliges the latter to pay the selected auditors. They try to find addresses, but it is impossible", said Ballgjini. /CNA.al
