Extremely negative balance of DP under the leadership of Lulzim Basha/ 60 figures excluded in 7 years

The Democratic Party has had a very negative balance during the 7 years in opposition under the leadership of Lulzim Basha, 2013-2020. During this time, 60 well-known and influential figures were expelled, 4 new parties were formed, there were 6 electoral defeats, the local government was handed over to the political opponent, and the DP turned into a non-parliamentary party.

The DP is heading towards the next parliamentary elections, without reflecting at all on the saga of sins during the 2005-2013 government. Among the group of excluded with the signature of Lulzim Basha, four former democratic exponents will fight against the DP in the elections of April 25, 2021, at the head of 4 parties.

They are Jozefina Topalli, Astrit Patozi, Myslim Murrizi and Rudina Hajdari. The Democratic Party will most likely face Bamir Topin, at the head of the New Democratic Spirit, who has vowed not to approach Basha.
Meanwhile, the exclusion of figures with weight and contribution to this party, has occurred in 3 phases; in 2013, 2017 and this year through the ‘Nishani’ commission. In 2013, Berisha interrupted the political career of 36 DP deputies, among whom Ilir Rusmali, Fatos Hoxha, Viktor Gumi, Osman Metalla, Selami Xhepa, Arenca Trashani, etc.

Lulzim Basha took over the leadership of the party in the summer of 2013 a few weeks after the defeat, through a process denounced as manipulated by his rival Sokol Olldashi, but also by Astrit Patozi and other representatives.
Basha didn’t approach the expelled from Berisha, except Enkelejd Alibeaj. On the contrary,
instead he increased expulsions in 2017, interrupting the political careers of Jozefina Topalli, Astrit Patozi, Majlinda Bregu, Ridvan Bode, Arben Imami, Eduard Selami, etc.

These were replaced by new people like Klevis Balliu, Ervin Salianji, Grida Duma, Romeo Gurakuqi, Halim Kosova, Agron Shehaj, Valentina Duka etc. Throughout this 7-year period, Basha has surprisingly spoken only about the unification of the Democratic Party.
He even created a department for Historical Contributions in the DP, with the aim the returning of the figures who had contributed to the DP. Genc Ruli, Besnik Mustafaj and Mark Marku returned. Ruli, Mustafaj, Marku and Bujar Nishani were appointed in the summer of this year as members of a commission for filtering candidates for deputies.

With this commission, Basha ‘got rid’ of some figures he approached in 2017. Thus, Romeo Gurakuqi, Astrit Veliaj, Halim Kosova, Endri Hasa, Ervin Salianji, Luan Baçi, Tritan Shehu, Fatbardha Kadiu, Izmira Ulqinaku, Xhemal Gjunkshi and Gerti Bogdani were excluded. Five of the expelled have reacted harshly, denouncing and refusing the next purge in the DP.

Meanwhile, during the last 7 years, under the leadership of Lulzim Basha, the Democratic Party has suffered several serious electoral defeats. He lost the 2013 parliamentary elections, the local elections in 2015, the partial elections in Korça and Dibër, the parliamentary elections of 2017, and handed over all local government in 2019, not participating in the elections, after he had submitted the mandates of deputies, turned into non-parliamentary parties. During this period, the DP has won only the partial local elections in Kavaja./CNA.al

All the shadows of Agron Shehaj

Agron Shehaj, is a character introduced to politics from the business world. A success story, called Lulzim Basha in 2017, stating that Shehaj was different from the others. In fact, after 4 years in politics, today Shehaj is seen as a rival of Basha for the leader of the Democratic Party, although in the race against Luli Basha he wouldn’t get even his vote, because Basha has a habit of voting and counting himself.

But let us analyze a little this man, who entered the parliament as a comic character, and with his special voice seeks to make a political career at high levels. In Albanian politics he entered through the window as a popular proverb says. Shehaj had no contribute to the Democratic Party, and became an MP simply because she agreed to fund

Lulzim Basha’s campaign. In this way Agron Shehaj received the mandate of deputy as the first in the list of Vlora region. At that time there were accusations of payment by Shehaj of a sum of 500-700 thousand dollars, but these accusations remain as always in the context of political clashes within the genre. Shehaj went to the parliament, where he made laugh the children and the adults with the mistakes and nonsense that he articulated in the rostrum of the parliament.

He was then used by Basha in a suspicious denunciation such as the Great Ring Road project in Tirana. We say suspicious, because the denunciation of Agron Shehaj happened after various man of Luli Basha went to different institutions and entities seeking their share of the profit.

So a story of fines that was followed by a denunciation, which served as an advertisement for Shehaj as an MP with integrity. In fact, with his candidacy in Vlora Agron Shehaj sealed the biggest electoral failure of the DP in history in this region. Shehaj received only 3 seats and 20 percent of the total votes.
In 4 years as an MP, he never appeared on the side of the structures, or to deal with the re-establishment of the opposition. He was just a tourist, no one took him seriously in the DP of Vlora, as they didn’t consider him as their representative, but simply as an MP with a “purchased” mandate.

After registering a catastrophic result in Vlora, Lulzim Basha brought it to Tirana. The replacement was made with Bujar Leskaj. The latter didn’t have Agron Shehaj’s money,
but increased the result by 50 percent, going to almost 33 percent and securing 4 seats.

So, this clearly shows that Shehaj had failed. In Tirana, due to great financial opportunities, he tried to raise another image. But how much influence will have a Vlora man in the capital, who doesn’t have the courage to re-run in Vlora? He was sixth on the list of sure winners, and thanks to dizzying expenses he was able to secure many personal votes.

And this is thanks to the attempt to show the citizens the image of a civilized politician. But in fact the facade often lies. Shehaj’s political shadows and failures, cannot be covered by the call center, or the comments on social networks that he uses for treatment of his image.

A decision of several years ago by the Competition Authority, signed by the first of the Shkodra list, Helidon Bushati, shows a lot about the shadows of Agron Shehaj.

Let stop here as an introduction with the shadows of Agron Shehaj, to go deeper in the future with this character with the image pumped up, but in fact in the political aspect his shadows sink his image./CNA.al

Drunk, sent threatening messages?/ Why Ilir Meta doesn’t hand over his phone to SPAK

On April 29, the President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, sounded the alarm that his phone number had been hacked, and through him they had sent threatening messages to other persons, mainly SMI candidates in the last elections.

Meta issued a statement to the media his spokesman, Tedi Blushi, who stated that has been an interference in the personal number of the head of state, and through him the citizens were threatened with messages. “For this criminal scandal of misuse of the number of the President of the Republic, will be required an immediate and international investigation.

If our institutions were functional, no one would dare to commit such crazy and legally punishable acts, which could seriously endanger the national security of the Republic of Albania, a NATO member country” – declared Blushi.

Meta accuses the mobile company, with the claim that according to the data provided by him, the manipulated messages were sent from the message center of the telephone company.

But in fact this accusation doesn’t stand, as it can be easily found who sent the SMS.

First the telephone company can identify the information in the cells, ie in the antennas that transmit the signal. Second, everything can be verified by phone. But, is Ilir Meta ready to go and hand over his mobile phone to SPAK?

He has not taken this action so far. It has been satisfied only with accusations, while it hasn’t taken any concrete steps to uncover the truth. So, so far from the President of the Republic we heard words and only words. But when you make accusations, you have the obligation to give some more evidence, or to show your will that it is not a lie.

If Ilir Meta’s phone has been hacked, and someone has misused his number by sending SMS to other persons, the verification is very easy. And there is no need for Meta to release his speech to the media, but to show that he is ready to cover this event, and to inform the public opinion.

In this case the first step is to hand over his phone to SPAK. After all, it should be investigated in the first place the real possibility that Ilir Meta himself sent these messages. During the election campaign he did many actions that called into question his mental health.

It was rumored that he drinks a lot of alcohol day and night, and when he saw the disastrous results of the SMI election, he was probably drunk and upset and out of anger, when threatened and cursed various people.

Now, in principle, everyone is forgiven for these actions, especially in the degraded situation by our desolate President. He also stipulates in the Constitution that he is not responsible for what he does. But the accusations he made publicly 10 days ago, cannot remain as noisy fireworks for public opinion. Therefore, Ilir Meta must take his phone to SPAK to prove his accusation. Does he have the will to do this?/CNA.al

Facts and figures/ Invalid votes refute the claims of the Democratic Party

https://www.cna.al/2021/05/07/fakte-dhe-shifra-votat-e-pavlefshme-rrezojne-pretendimet-e-pd/

It has been 12 days since the April 25 parliamentary elections, when the Socialist Party won the third term with 74 seats to govern the country. After the defeat, the Democratic Party, which managed to get only 59 seats, is making various claims trying to justify its failure.

Lulzim Basha is seeking the alibi of losing to the invalid votes, lying to the Democrats that they allegedly won. But even invalid votes don’t make winner the DP, even if they are recounted, at least in the 5 main regions of the country.

At the national level there are 1.578.00 valid votes and 83.000 invalid votes. CNA.al brings to the readers a detailed analysis of invalid votes in some regions, based on the official data published by the CEC. Let’s analyze them one by one.

In Tirana, the difference between SP and DP is about 44.000 votes, where according to the CEC 18.000 votes are invalid.

The difference is huge, and taking as a reference an average percentage of invalid votes 50 to 50, they don’t produce any additional mandate for the DP.

In Elbasan, the difference between SP and DP is 29.000 votes. 9.771 votes are invalid, where for 66 votes the SP gets the ninth mandate.

The probability of an invalid vote is close to the percentage won by the political force, and this means that in many regions there are no surprises.

In Fier region, the difference between SP and DP is 27.000 votes in favor of SP. There are currently 9.300 invalid votes. Here too, it seems that from the difference of the parties in the race, there is no additional mandate for the DP.

In Durrës, the difference is 16.500 votes, where the Socialist Party is again in advantage. 7808 votes are invalid. The DP aims for the SMI to receive a mandate from the SP. But for this SMI needs 2.300 more votes, while there was no contestation during the vote counting process.

In Berat, the difference between the two major parties is 19.000 votes in favor of the SP.

The DP demands the reopening of the ballot boxes in the hope that the SMI, ie Ardit Çela, will get his mandate, which he can get for almost 300 more votes.

In Korça, the difference between SP and PD is 10.000 votes, where the Socialist Party leads again. 7.375 votes are invalid.

The SMI needs another 1.000 thousand votes to get an additional mandate from the SP. But this is impossible.

The only disputes in the count are between the candidates within the DP-Alliance for Change coalition, as the counters stole each other’s votes. So with a simple analysis falls the legend that invalid votes will overturn the result./CNA.al
