Albania has an opposition people, but no opposition

10 Dhjetor 2020, 13:53, English CNA

There are at least three cases, when the reaction of the Albanian youth and the majority of the people, active voters or not, has really been a great opposition force, putting the government in difficulty and showing it that Albania, although it may not have a credible opposition, or used by the government, has an opposition people.

Yesterday, after the calls started on social networks by ?Brryli Broadway? or other websites, a thousand young people gathered in front of the Ministry of Interior and protested. They would have had a very big victory if they had stayed there, demanding the resignation of the minister.

But the crowd then went to the front of the prime minister?s building, and then some acts of violence were committed, if any. There were many young people who showed that in Albania there is still hope, that there are opposition people.

So there are young people who don?t bow to injustices, who react, who shout loudly, who clash with the authorities when they feel pain and injustice. So it happened yesterday, they reacted after the murder of a 25-year-old by the police, and rightly the revolt started very strong.

Many media tried to call it political, why did participate rapper Stresi or his friends. In fact, there is nothing wrong with that. He is a man, and although he is a PD militant, he and his comrades have the right to protest. The important thing is that was protested, and not who protested!

He is young, they are Democrats, and there is nothing wrong with getting together and demand justice for their friend criminally executed by the irresponsibility of a police officer.

The second case is the student protest, which was the hope of an entire people. The students showed that Albania had an opposition people, that the future of the country would be better. They protested for days in front of the Ministry of Education, and very soon Minister Lindita Nikolla resigned.

Unfortunately we don?t have a better law on higher education, and on the whole that expectation didn?t bring any great victory, but the government received a ?bitter lesson?. And Sander Lleshaj would have received the same lesson yesterday, if the young people didn?t leave the Ministry of Interior.

The third is the protest that took place in the first moments of the coming to power of the Renaissance, the one against the bringing of chemical weapons in Albania, where several hundred young people gathered as if by chance in front of the prime minister?s building, and then became a large crowd that didn?t have no leader.

But don?t forget a young protester wearing a yellow uniform that made the difference.
His name was Zirkon Disha, already more involved in his civil movement activities. But then, he and several hundred other young people, including Arlind Qorri?s neo-anarchists or Marxists, gathered in front of the prime minister?s office and forced Edi Rama to say no to chemical weapons in Albania.
It was the first hope and strongest reaction, that had occurred since 1990 to a government, from the young people. From that time until today, there are at least three cases that show us that Albania has an opposition people, but apparently unfortunately there is no opposition.

Perhaps this is one of the rare cases in the world, when the opposition acts of the citizens directly refuse to be represented by the opposition, by its official leader. In the first case Lulzim Basha was not accepted, but kicked out with whistle from the chemical weapons protest. He didn?t try to go to the students. On the contrary, together with Monika Kryemadhi of the SMI, he wanted to control the protest by creating incidents, quarrels and clashes, and the end is what everyone knows. So it happened yesterday.

At 16:30 the protest called on social networks gathered thousands of people. At 22:00, Lulzim Basha and his supporters had announced a protest, some of whom he started paying to make memes or to create spirit on social networks.

But, it was clear that the opposition people, the Albanians, the opposition youth, including the most extremists within the political spirit, went to the protest at 16:30, when they were called to the square by social networks, not when they called Lulzim Basha?s soldiers.

Albania has strong young people who inspire hope, who have courage, who protest only by reacting on social networks, but these are the same young people who abandon the self-proclaimed opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, abandon his calls, his protests and his movements.

They don?t see him as hope, but unfortunately they see him as Edi Rama, as the latter?s partner. They see him as the former Minister of Interior on January 21, when he didn?t resign. While yesterday, he provoked a second protest demanding the resignation of the Minister of Interior, Sander Lleshaj, when in fact he was once in the same situation, and hadn?t done so.

So this should be a moment of reflection for Democrats, for all opposition parties, to look in the mirror, to look back, and to think about the problems. It all starts with Lulzim Basha, and the pseudo-opposition elite represented by him and his soldiers. Some of them could be acceptable to the citizens but not Luli Basha. Therefore, the time has come for the political opposition, and if there are still some responsible people with some dignity, let them say publicly that Albania has young opposition, that exist an opposition people, but there is no opposition leader, and the opposition people don?t accept Lulzim Basha as a leader./CNA.al
